Are applicants required to be a U.S. Citizen?
  • No

Are applicants still eligible if they receive other funding?

  • Yes

Are basic biological scientists who hold only an M.D. degree eligible?

  • Yes

How do I get the username and password to download the application?

  • You may obtain the username and password to download the application from your institutional representative only. This list of representatives is available on the Searle Scholars website.

My institution is not on the list. Can I still obtain an application?

  • No. Applicants must be nominated by invited universities/universities only.

How does an institution get invited to participate in the Searle Scholars Program?

  • An appropriate institution official may send a letter of appeal to the Searle Scholars Scientific Advisory Board - Searle Scholars Program, 400 Skokie Blvd., Suite 300, Northbrook, IL 60062. These appeals are considered once a year beginning of April and must arrive in our office by March 1, 2009. Information to include in the letter: information about the institution especially the biomedical and chemistry research departments.
